Border Patrol agents seize 2,100 lbs. of pot

TUCSON - Agents assigned to the Ajo Station seized over 1,700 lbs. of marijuana followed by BORSTAR agents uncovering close to 400 lbs. making a total net of 2,100 lbs. in a 24 hour period.

It's estimated the drugs are worth more than $1.6 million.

Agents were patrolling in the west desert area when they saw vehicle tracks.

They followed the tracks and found a stationary vehicle covered with a tarp in the brush.

Upon further inspection, agents discovered 79 bundles of marijuana. The vehicle had been reported stolen and turned over to the Tohono O'odham Police Department.

BORSTAR agents tracking footprints north of SR 86 near Kitt Peak uncovered nearly 400 lbs. of marijuana buried in the ground in an attempt to conceal it.
