TUCSON - Early this morning, Border Patrol agents found an abandoned vehicle hidden under a camouflaged tarp containing nearly $1 million worth of marijuana.
Agents from the Casa Grande station were alerted by detection technology to possible smuggling activity in the pre-dawn hours this morning, according to a news release from Customs and Border Protection. Agents responded to the West Desert and followed off-road tire tracks to a wash, where they found the vehicle abandoned and covered with a camouflage tarp.
Inside the vehicle, agents found 100 bundles of marijuana weighing 1,878 pounds. The vehicle and narcotics were seized, the release states.
