TUCSON - Gusty winds in May are a dime a dozen. Storm chances are much rarer. Both are in the forecast.
Expect southwest winds up to 25 MPH today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Mostly sunny skies are on tap this afternoon as highs reach the low 90's. Winds subside after sunset this evening.
A slow moving low pressure center taps into enough moisture to spark a few thunderstorms late tomorrow afternoon through Saturday. Dry air at the valley floors means little rainfall is anticipated. It also means the wildfire threat increases due to lightning strikes.
High pressure regains control of the weather early next week, driving temps near triple digits for Memorial Day.
