TUCSON - It's not just for big chains. Many local businesses are getting in on Black Friday.
Some stores even opened doors early once they saw people walking down the street. For a change of pace many strolled down 4th Avenue to pick up a few things.
"I'm not much for crowds that's why I decided to come to 4th avenue to fight the crowds," said Norma Lewis who was shopping downtown.
This Black Friday kicks off "buy local month" where now until December 25, you can get great deals for your holiday shopping. It's a campaign to encourage shoppers to "put their money where their home is."
"Buying local and keeping local money in communities and resources in communities," said Joy Hart, shopper.
