For 25 years Rudy Valenzuela shared a special bond with 52-year-old Major Eduardo Caraveo but that tragically came to an end after hearing Caraveo was shot and killed during the Fort Hood,Texas shootings.
Valenzuela said the former University of Arizona graduate and psychologist could get along with anybody and always made a differnce in the community.
Caraveo had arrived at Ft. Hood just 24 hours before the shooting. He earned his PhD from the UA in 1986 and worked at the UA as an adjunct professor. He was even a case worker for Child Protective Services in Tucson.
"I was in shock, I knew it was true. I knew no body would joke about something like that," says Valenzuela. "It really hurts me a great deal because that's the kind of person you never want to lose."
"I'm going to miss him, i'm going to miss him."
