PHOENIX (AP) - Renovations to Arizona State University's aging Sun Devil Stadium could displace the school's football team and reroute fans to venues in downtown Phoenix or Glendale for at least a year.
The Arizona Republic reports Arizona State's athletics director Steve Patterson told a business luncheon in Tempe last week that the renovations would begin under the best case scenario after the 2013 season ends.
Demolition and initial renovation could be limited to areas that would allow the team to keep playing in the stadium during the 2014 season, but there would be fewer seats due to construction.
After that, fans can expect Sun Devil football to leave Tempe for at least the 2015 season.
