TUCSON - The owner of a care home is shocked two of his employees are charged with Vulnerable Adult Abuse.
Richard Yubeta owns Asterion Acres near Ina and Thornydale Roads.
"In the industry, it's devastating," he said. "There are too many good caregivers out there, and unfortunately, these two kind of ruined it."
The family member of a 93-year-old hospice patient recorded hidden-camera video in the facility, according to Yubeta.
Annuhar Jesus Ruiz, 29, and Elisa Moreno, 67, were arrested after staff members called the Sheriff's Department.
"We need to get these bad caregivers out of the industry," Yubeta said. "The prosecutions of them will get them out of the industry."
The certified caregivers had to pass background checks by the Arizona Department of Public Safety, according to Yubeta.
Yubeta said people should stay involved in their family members' care.
"Talk to them," he said. "Make sure they're happy. Bruises and that kind of thing should be reported to the families, and if it's not being reported, they should ask why."
