The Arizona Arthritis Center, one of nine Centers of Excellence at the University of Arizona, strives to improve the lives of the millions afflicted with one of the many forms of arthritis. The Center conducts both clinical and basic research and educates care providers and scientists in the development of more effective therapies. Currently, there are more than 20 research studies being conducted in the Center.
The goal of the research being conducted is to change the way patients are treated globally. The knowledge gained from this research will develop and test more effective therapies with the hope of reversing the disease process. Other important work includes building better tools for joint replacement and cartilage regeneration and creating greater knowledge to understand the mind-body connection in chronic diseases.
The Arizona Arthritis Center Friends support the Center's mission to help create a world free of arthritis and autoimmune diseases. Friends' members are invited to participate in on-going programs and special events created to increase awareness and promote optimal health for arthritis sufferers. Annual Friends' membership dues are $45.
Additional Friends' events for the 2010-2011 year include Meet the Arizona Arthritis Center Researchers Luncheon on Nov. 4 at Skyline Country Club, the Living Healthy with Arthritis monthly workshops and annual conference on Jan. 15, 2011, and the Eva M.
