TUCSON - Sheriffs now suspect arson was the cause of a fire that did significant damage to a south side home yesterday evening.

Pima County Sheriff's Department deputies and Rural Metro Fire Department firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 4700 block of E. American Beauty Drive at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. The house's upper floor was engulfed in flames.

It was later determined that the house had been unoccupied for about a year, and gas and electricity had been disconnected.

The fire was deemed suspicious, and Sheriff's Arson detectives are currently investigating the scene.
