PHOENIX (AP) - The sling that Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio wore after he broke his left shoulder earlier this year has been auctioned off for charity.
Maricopa County Sheriff's officials said Monday that a northern California man had the winning bid of $2,600 for the sling on eBay.
Retired law enforcement professional Buck Dikes is scheduled to come to Phoenix on July 18 and receive the autographed sling and photos from Arpaio in person.
Arapio says the money will benefit no-kill animal shelters.
The funds are expected to cover the cost of at least one doggie treadmill, some horse harnesses and other supplies for the care of the abused and neglected animals.
Arpaio broke his shoulder in a fall on Feb. 28.
The sling reportedly received more than 70 bids on eBay.
