PHOENIX - One of Arizona's newest millionaires is crediting her late husband for a recent lottery win.
The Maricopa widow, who wishes to remain anonymous, found an old Powerball play slip while going through her late husband's paperwork. The nurse practitioner then decided to play his numbers, purchasing a ticket at a nearby Fry's Food Store.
While buying groceries at the same Fry's about a month later, the woman checked her ticket. A store clerk who knew that a winning $1 million Powerball ticket had yet to be redeemed, immediately called the manager saying, "She's here!"
The winner, clerk and manager were all in tears when they realized she held the winning ticket. "It was a shock finding out I'd won," the winner said. "I believe that my husband won the million for me."
