ARIZONA - Ahead of two blockbuster Supreme Court rulings on same-sex marriage, an Arizona group called "Equal Marriage Arizona" has filed the necessary paperwork with the Secretary of State for a ballot initiative that would legalize gay marriage in Arizona.
It needs 259,200 valid voter signatures to qualify for the 2014 election. The paperwork was filed on Monday.
The initiative calls for the state to, "define marriage as a union of two persons" while also "specifying that religious institutions shall not be required to solemnize or officiate any particular marriage."
