MORRISTOWN, Ariz. (AP) - A seven-mile stretch of U.S. 60 is closed northwest of Phoenix because of what's described as a hazardous material incident, and the Arizona Department of Transportation says motorists should expect delays well into Friday morning.
ADOT says crews are responding to the incident and that the closure is between the small communities of Whittman and Morristown.
Both are between Phoenix and Wickenburg.
ADOT says a detour has been established on local streets to route traffic around the closure.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office did not immediately to requests for information about the incident.
The closed section of U.S. 60 is part of the main highway route between Phoenix and Las Vegas.
