Ariz. principal in punishment flap gets rally

MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Students are rallying around an Arizona principal under fire for punishing two fighting male students by making them publicly hold hands.

KTVK-TV reports ( that students at Westwood High School in Mesa, Ariz., have planned a rally in support for Principal Tim Richard.

Richard recently ordered to two students to publicly hold hands for an hour or face suspension.

The boys were teased and pictures of them holding hand were posted on social media.

Westwood senior Elizabeth Engle, who organized the rally, says possible suspensions would have ruined the students' record.

The Mesa Public School District says they don't support the punishment and will address the matter with the principal.
