GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) - A Goodyear man is among several Americans who will run with the Olympic torch this summer as it heads to London.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/NB5E7a) reports 48-year-old Dale Kamarata, a supply-chain manager for Coco-Cola, was chosen by the beverage company to run with the flame July 10 as it passes through Oxford, England.
Kamarata is one of 22 Americans selected by Coca-Cola. Other torch runners include former Olympians Michelle Kwan and Summer Sanders.
A Coco-Cola spokeswoman says Kamarata was likely chosen for his creation of an affordable sports program for youths in his community.
Kamarata was nominated for the torch run by two co-workers at his nonprofit, Estrella Youth Sports.
Kamarata says the honor belongs to the families in his community and feels grateful to represent them.
