The U.S. Department of Education announced the grants Tuesday.

About $740,000 goes to the Santa Cruz Regional School District in Nogales, while $631,000 goes to the Sunnyside Unified School District in Tucson.

Another $225,000 goes to the non-profit Pima Prevention Partnership in Tucson.

The grants are among 56 totaling $27 million that went to school districts and community organizations to implement physical fitness and nutrition programs.
