TUCSON - Monsoon storms return to start the weekend.
High pressure is drawing in a significant amount of moisture and working with an inverted trough to get storms firing up this afternoon and evening, according to Meteorologist John Patrick. Thunderstorms today have a good chance to turn severe with the capability of damaging winds, very heavy rain and hail. Enough energy is in the atmosphere to keep these storms going late tonight with leftover showers into early Sunday morning. A similar set up is in place to keep more scattered storms in the forecast for Sunday afternoon rounding out yet another wet weekend.
Moisture doesn't start to thin until the middle of next week keeping hit or miss scattered storms through Wednesday. During this period daytime highs will stay below average in the mid 90s.
