TUCSON - In honor of back to school, Pima Animal Care Center adoption center is offering a free adoption for any pet, of any age, for all teachers, professors, teaching assistants and tutors.
Licensing fees, which are $15 annually for altered dogs, still apply.
For everyone else, pet adoptions are $35, plus the price of a license.
That fee not only includes spay/neuter surgery, if necessary, but shots and microchipping as well.
Puppies under the age of three months are $85.
The adoption center says they have many pets to choose from, although the overcrowding crisis is beginning to taper off.
Pima Animal Care Center issued a call for assistance in mid-July when they faced a severe overcrowding problem.
The community answered that call, adopting more than 1,150 animals in July alone.
At the close of business July 31, occupancy was down to 592 pets - 399 dogs and 193 cats.
PACC is open noon-7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekends.
