TUCSON - With breeding season fully underway, the Pima County Animal Shelter is bursting at the seams.
Reaching the capacity of nearly 400 cats and dogs, the shelter created an incentive for those looking for a new friend.
Typically an adoption will cost $85 plus $15 for a dog license. Right now the animal shelter is charging just $10 for adoptions in an attempt to clear out its crammed kennels.
Shelter supervisor Ivonne Lopez says you're getting great bang for your buck.
"You get the dog altered micro-chipped licensed and the shots. So it's a really good deal," Lopez said.
Recently, the shelter held an adoption event called "Monsoon Muttness." One-hundred-forty animals found new homes during that event, but with litters of cats and dogs coming in each day it's never a bad time to find a new friend.
