TUCSON - The Tucson Padres announced Tuesday they had purchased the rights to Casino Del Sol All-Star Game. The college football showcase will be held at Kino Stadium on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
The Tucson Padres recently purchased the rights to the game from AZ Sports Group LLC.
The game moves to Tucson this year from Tempe where it was known as the Eastham Energy College All Star Game.
"It's something we wanted to have an active role in for the benefit of the Tucson community. It will create great awareness for Tucson and will fill a lot of hotel rooms. The economic benefit of this game will be substantial with the visit of over 100 college senior football players and staff and their families, over 50 NFL scouts, and media" said Tucson Padres Vice President and General Manager Mike Feder.
This will be the first of four college all-star games. The others are the Senior Bowl in Mobile (1/28/12), the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg (1/21/12), and the NFLPA College Football All-Star Game in Los Angeles (1/21/12).
