Alcohol energy drinks have been manufactured by companies for the last couple of years, and are increasingly a drink of choice among college students.
Poison Specialist, Mark Murphy said, "The problem I think is younger unexperienced drinkers, they might not be aware of the amount of caffeine they are getting and they consume more alcohol than they realize they are drinking."
But some consumers like Alvaro Deassis said they don't see the problem.
"I think it's like the new millenium mixer cocktails you know a lot of people like to drink it. I haven't heard of any adverse affects from it or extreme dangers of drinking them."
While some consumers might think these energy drinks taste good and give you that extra boost, some people think their bad for your health.
Patricia Chriswell said, "I don't think their safe. I've tried just regular energy drinks and they don't taste good. So I think mixing with alcohol wouldn't even be appetizing."
The Federal Agency has sent out letters to 30 beverage makers giving them 30 days to provide evidence whether the combination of alcohol and caffeine are safe.
