TUCSON - Weekend storm chances on the rise with some help from the tropics.
Moisture surges into southern Arizona as Tropical Storm Ivo parallels the Baja coast. According to Meteorologist John Patrick, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the region to kick off the weekend.
Moisture will continue to stream in from the Gulf of California early Sunday making it the more active day of the weekend. Showers and storms will be likely Sunday with the heaviest rainfall expected to stay west of the Tucson metro.
Some areas will see between 0.50"-1.00" through weekend which may lead to some flooding issues. Stay with News 4 Tucson on-air and on-line for further Monsoon Storm Alert updates. Track the storms with our Interactive Radar & get severe weather alerts on your phone by texting "MONSOON" to 95990.
