TUCSON - The big events all over the city are not just for Tucsonans. About one 1 out of 3 spectators are tourists.

Match Play organizers estimate about 1 out of 3 people are from outside the Tucson area.

About 30% of rodeo fans are from out of town.

Major League Soccer brought 25% to 30% of their crowd from outside the area, based on the numbers from last year.

Many fans at Match Play were happy to spend a day in the sun.

"I like Canada," Dan May from Calgary said, "nice to be here in the warmth."

Tourists spend their money on more than just event tickets.

"We're going to go shopping," El Paso resident Michael Norwich said, "and enjoy Mexican food."

Accenture Match Play's attendance was up about 15% over last year.
