TUCSON - Thanks to a generous donor, Tucson's traditional "A" Mountain fireworks will take place on the Fourth of July.
Desert Diamond Casinos, an enterprise of the Tohono O'Odham Nation, is sponsoring this year's show, as it has for the past two years.
The fireworks will begin around 9:15 that Wednesday, July 4th evening.
"The City of Tucson sincerely appreciates the support from Desert Diamond Casinos to help continue this proud tradition in our community," said City Manager Richard Miranda. "Independence Day is a national holiday and the City is again honored to offer a location where the community can safely celebrate this important day with a patriotic display of fireworks."
If you want to attend, you can enjoy the display from the Tucson Convention Center's Parking Lot B, off Granada Avenue, between Congress and Cushing Street.
Parking is free. TCC's Food and Beverage Department will be selling food and drinks between 7pm-9pm.
Other suggested free parking viewing locations downtown:
-The 22nd street lot at Interstate 10's frontage road (northeast corner)
-The Mercado west end dirt lot, south of Congress and west of the Santa Cruz River
-The City/State parking garage at 498 W. Congress, at the northeast quadrant of I-10 & Congress.
Because of modern street car construction downtown, you're encouraged to use 22nd Street and the I-10 frontage roads to reach the viewing areas.
Mission Road will be closed from Starr Pass Boulevard to Congress, beginning at 5pm on July 4.
Mission Road will reopen once traffic clears from the viewing areas.
