TUCSON - Hello to May, and hello to a few rounds of wind.
A trough of low pressure moving across the Great Basin cranks up the winds this afternoon, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. West-southwest winds up to 20 MPH are possible for the Tucson metro today, with stronger gusts in Santa Cruz and Cochise Counties. Despite the winds, it should still be a pleasant afternoon as highs reach the low 90's in Tucson.
Breezes begin to ease off after sunset this evening, but return Wednesday. Another round of wind moves in for the second half of the weekend & early next week as a cold front tracks north of Arizona.
High temperatures over the next 7 days will remain 2-4 degrees above average, with a stretch of 90 degree days starting up Thursday. Expect overnight lows in the low 60's through early next week.
