TUCSON - If the A-10's were eliminated it could have a huge impact on personnel at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
"We would lose about 2,000 direct jobs associated with Davis-Monthan, and there would be some indirect jobs," said DM 50 president Mike Grassinger.
Grassinger is part of a group that supports the Air Force Base. He says those jobs would include everything from maintenance support to the pilots.
"These people would likely leave Tucson; there would be a number of homes and apartments on the market for sale or for rent."
Local businesses like restaurants near the Air Force base say this would have a huge impact on their sales.
"It would be drastic to this community," said Susan Elefante who works at Mama Louisa's, a family run Italian restaurant since 1956.
She says if the A-10's were eliminated the restaurant could lose as much as 25% of their business.
