TUCSON - Nine Sahuarita High School students were arrested and charged with assault and kidnapping stemming from a bullying or hazing incident Tuesday.
The group of suspects were seen forcing a student to the ground of the school's locker room and physically assaulting him, Sahuarita Police Department spokesman Sgt. Matt McGlone said in a release.
Sahuarita police are withholding information regarding the assault since some of the offenders and victim are juveniles, McGlone said.
Of the 9 students who were charged, 6 are underage and 3 are considered adults. Additional suspects could be charged in connection with the incident, McGlone said.
The three adults who were charged include 18-year-old Andres Vasquez, 18-year-old Jorge Loya-Lopez and 18-year-old Marcus Stitts.
The investigation is ongoing, McGlone said.
