TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - First responders from the 2001 terrorist attacks of New York City plan to present a signed American flag to the office of Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
Officials with Giffords' office in Tucson say the presentation is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the congresswoman's office at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Giffords is undergoing rehabilitation at a Houston hospital. She was among 13 people wounded by a shooter outside a Tucson supermarket Jan. 8. Six people were killed in the rampage.
About 50 first responders from 9/11 will be in Washington on Tuesday to commemorate passage and signing of a new law that pays for health care for responders sickened by pollution at the ruins of the World Trade Center.
