TUCSON - An 8-month-old boy is in critical condition after detectives say he was physically abused.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department arrested 28-year-old Jeremy Millis.
He's charged with attempted first degree murder and child abuse.
Detectives say he choked his ex-girlfriend's 8-month-old son several times.
The boy's mom brought him to the hospital Friday morning after she noticed he was unresponsive.
Medical staff determined he wasn't breathing on his own.
They examined him further and found injuries consistent with physical abuse.
The boy's mom told investigators she left him with her ex-boyfriend while she went to work.
The child is in the Intensive Care Unit.
