6 hotel guests evacuated after smoke alarm goes off

MARANA, Ariz. - An elevator system malfunction may have caused the automatic smoke alarm to activate at the La Quinta Inn and Suites near I-10 and Cortaro.

Northwest Fire crews responded to the hotel around 4:30pm Saturday.

Emergency dispatchers indicated that there was the smell of smoke, a haze and alarms activated on the 3rd floor of the hotel.
