500 bikes donated to kids for Christmas

TUCSON-500 children just got what they wanted for Christmas.

After waiting in a long line for their gift, the kids were ready to go.

"I'm excited because it's going to be fun riding the bikes," said Alex.

The bikes were donated to children in need.

"We tried to be really good to earn them," said Jo Jo.

She said it's a necessity for her and her brother Alex.

"Now we don't have to walk. We get to ride our bikes to school," said Jo Jo.

She said she won't take that for granted.

"Me and my brother were really excited to get them, and we're really thankful to get them," said Jo Jo.

Nearly 30 thousand dollars was donated to Lugo Charities, Inc. for these bikes.

"It helps a lot. I have four boys so anything helps. They're really excited to get their new bikes," mom Veronica Bustamante.

Mothers said they were grateful for the lending hand this Christmas.

Each helmet was custom-fitted by volunteers from the Tucson Medical Center.
