50 structures now damaged or destroyed by Monument

TUCSON - Forty homes and 10 other structures have been damaged or destroyed by the Monument Fire, as of the latest update from Cochise County Sheriff's Department.

These lost properties are along the following roads: Ash Canyon Road, Muffin Lane, Deer Trail, Prince Placer, Acorn, Pickett Lane, Twin Oaks, Mountainview, Stoneridge, Turkey Track, East Spring Road, and Brushy Oak. Additional assessments will be completed throughout the day, sheriff's officials say.

The following closures and evacuation areas remain in effect:

Ash Canyon, Hunter Canyon , Stump Canyon (both upper and lower), Turkey Track will remain closed until further notice.


There is a pre-evacuation notice for all residents in the following areas:

Stump Canyon up to and including Miller Canyon. This will encompass all roads in between such as Dead Bear Draw, Vista Grande, Wickersham, and over to Three Canyons.

Residents are encouraged to make arrangements for themselves and their belongings, as well as any livestock, large animals and pets which need to be moved.

For resource information on help for moving large animals, call the Cochise County Sheriff's Office at: at 520-432-9500 - they will be able to give phone numbers for volunteers to help in this effort.
