4 Ariz store employees accused of food stamp fraud

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say four employees of a general store in Phoenix are accused of food stamp fraud.

A report released Wednesday by the Arizona Department of Economic Security and state Attorney General Tom Horne says people with food cards allegedly were allowed to buy a small item and overcharge the stamp card in order to make a profit.

They say tens of thousands of dollars were claimed by the Dollar Dayz store that only had two aisles of food.

Authorities estimate that the food stamp fraud exceeded $700,000 at the store since 2010.

They say the four store employees are accused of illegally conducting an enterprise, fraudulent schemes and artifices, money laundering, unlawful use of food stamps and computer tampering.

The names of the four suspects weren't immediately released.
