COCHISE - A 25-year-old man has been killed in a fire in Cochise, Arizona, after the travel trailer he was staying in burned.
On Thursday the Cochise County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a travel trailer on fire in the 2800 block of North Golden Rule Road in Cochise. The trailer had already burned to the ground by the time deputies arrived.
A woman at the property told deputies that her son has been staying in the trailer and she was not able to find him during the fire. Sheriff's Deputies found the body of Andrew Christian inside the destroyed structure.
The body of Mr. Christian was taken to the Pima County Medical Examiners' Office for an autopsy to determine exact cause of death, and the investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
Outside the trailer, deputies also found a large barrel marked as a toxic substance. The Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to determine if there any toxic substances that could pose a risk. DPS advised that there was no evidence of toxic substances on the premises.
Chief Rod Rothrock said today, "in recent times we have seen several tragedies occur and this seems to be yet another one, albeit of an accidental nature. As always our thoughts and prayers are with those directly affected including the family and friends of Andrew Christian."
