SAN LUIS, AZ - A 24-year-old woman, a Mexican national, was taken into custody Monday at the Port of San Luis for attempting to smuggle nearly 12 pounds of cocaine and almost six pounds of methamphetamine into the United States.
When Customs and Border Protection officers pulled Fabiola Angulo-Lopez for an additional inspection of her Ford SUV, a narcotics detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs in the rear cargo area. A search uncovered six packages of cocaine and another three of methamphetamine hidden in the speaker box.
The drugs, with a combined value of approximately $196,000 and the SUV, were processed for seizure. Angulo-Lopez was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
