TUCSON - A 22-year old woman has been arrested and charged in a hit and run accident that injured a woman in midtown Wednesday afternoon.
Maralee Mendoza, has been arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of Aggravated Assault for causing serious physical injury and failure to remain at the scene of an injury collision.
A DUI investigation was conducted and is still ongoing.
A 19-year old woman was in a crosswalk on 1st Avenue between Prince Road and Fort Lowell when Tucson Police officers say the suspect failed to stop, even though the crosswalk lights were flashing.
According to police, the suspect took off after hitting the woman, driving about a half a mile, before another driver, who witnessed the accident, was able to stop her.
The injured woman remains in the hospital, in stable condition.
