TUCSON - If you're a 2-wheeler, you know that staying in shape is of utmost importance.
However, are some workouts better than others for bike lovers?
Niki Pochily, who does indoor cycling at O2 Modern Fitness, says she has learned a tremendous amount since starting.
"I'd only used spinning as a mechanism of training and I was able to complete the 66 mile tour so it's given me ammunition to go for the 109 next year."
While spinning, or indoor cycling may seem like an obvious workout for riders, Susan frank, who owns O2 Modern Fitness and is a cyclist herself, says many 2 wheelers don't give it a shot.
"It's an opportunity to work those very high intensity intervals, do sprints, and get to their anaerobic or vo2 max," she said.
She even encourages participants to bring in their own bike, which she says, builds your muscles where you need them most.
"The more that you're in the position that you should be in which is usually what you've been fit to on your bike, the better it is for you as a cyclist."
However, if you bike all day and want to try something different, another local studio offers a pilates class specifically for you.
Eileen Wittman, who teaches the pilates for cyclists class at Red Monkey Studio, says it benefits cyclists in many different ways.
"There's a lot of stretching of the hamstrings and hip flexors' and stretching the chest because we spend so much time flexed forward."
As a cyclist herself, Wittman says she knows the needs of her clients.
"I have developed the class to focus on muscles we use and over use on the bike and also to develop and strengthen the muscles we don't use on the bike," she continued.
Last but not least, it can also be helpful for cyclists looking for some relaxation.
"The class doesn't only strengthen but helps you release tension," said Junelle Lupiani, a class member.
