PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in northern Arizona say two Phoenix women are in custody for allegedly passing counterfeit money in Prescott Valley.
Prescott Valley police say officers responded to a call Wednesday about a counterfeit bill passed at a supermarket.
The suspect fled on foot before officers arrived.
While investigating that case, police say another call came in about people passing counterfeit currency at a clothing store.
Officers arrested 23-year-old Nancy Cardenas and 22-year-old Lizeth Duran.
Police investigators say they're tied the two suspects to passing or attempting to pass fake $100 bills at Alberston's, Fry's and Kohl's.
Both women are being held in Yavapai County Jail on suspicion of forgery and possessing a forged instrument.
Police didn't immediately know Friday if either Cardenas or Duran have lawyers yet for their cases.
