TUCSON - Tonight's Kitchen Cops takes us to kitchens that you've probably never eaten food from, but your kids may have! Brandon Gunnoe checked out the kitchens of several local public schools.
Sunnyside High School had 3 critical violations.
A server was observed scratching her neck with gloved hands and then handling tomatoes without washing her hands. An ice scoop had a heavy black buildup on it.
And a handsink in the main kitchen area didn't have any water. In fact, it hadn't had water in five years.
Sunnyside High School received a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Thornydale Elementary received 3 critical violations.
The dishwasher was not properly sanitizing, some of the food was not date marked, and the three compartment sink, in which food or utensils could be placed, was directly connected to the sewer system.
A spokesperson for the Marana School District says all of the violations were immediately corrected.
Thornydale received a "Needs Improvement" rating.
Don's Bayou Cajun Cooking Restaurant on E Tanque Verde, Zachary's Pizza on E 6th St. and Angelo's Pizza and Gyro's on W Ruthrauff all received an "Excellent" rating.
