TUCSON - Two people were killed yesterday in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 19, about 10 miles south of Tucson.
Officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety say that at 1:07 p.m. Sunday, the driver of a 1995 Ford Explorer lost control for an unknown reason, causing the vehicle to run into the median and roll over. The accident occurred on Interstate 19, near milepost 55, which is about 10 miles south of Tucson.
Two passengers died from injuries sustained during the accident: 53-year-old Fernando Mazcot Reyes, and 62-year-old Maria De Jesus Cruz-Correa.
The driver, 25-year-old Fernanda Mazcot, and 51-year-old Guillernina Mazcot, a passenger, were injured. All the vehicle's occupants are from Phoenix.
DPS says that all the passengers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. The investigation is on-going at this time.
