DOUGLAS, Ariz. (AP) - Two Douglas women are accused of trying to smuggle a 10-year-old girl into the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested the two women Thursday afternoon at the Douglas port of entry after questioning them about their relationship to the child who was with them.

The agency did not release the names of the two women.

The supervisor for passenger processing at the Douglas port, George De La Ossa, says child smuggling is never routine.

He says such children are separated from their families.

The customs officers also seized the vehicle the women were using.
