TUCSON- A 17-year-old female is fighting for her life after being struck by a vehicle on the southwest side Friday night.
According to Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Renee Carlson, deputies responded to a report of a person lying in the street of West Nebraska Street and South San Joaquin around 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Upon arrival they found the 17-year-old female unresponsive in the street. She was transported to UAMC, where she is listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies did not find a vehicle upon arrival, but the suspected vehicle returned shortly after.
The driver, 41-year-old Denise Torres, stated she knew she had struck something, but drove home without checking. She returned after speaking with family members at home.
Torres was arrested for felony hit and run and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center.
Deputies are still investigating the accident.
