PHOENIX - Statewide, 108 people were arrested for DUI yesterday, compared to 523 people over Independence Day weekend last year.
Officers from various law enforcement agencies across Arizona conducted 4,353 traffic stops yesterday, compared to 11,210 stops of Independence Day weekend in 2011.
According to the Governor's Office of Highway Safety, the average known blood-alcohol content of those stopped and tested was 0.144, the same average as last year. The legal limit is .08.
In addition, 12 people under 21 were arrested for DUI, and 18 people were arrested for drug-related DUI.
