TUCSON - Sheriff's deputies continue the search for a 29-year-old man who they describe as a "person of interest" in the southside shooting that killed one woman Tuesday night.
Deputies responded to a shooting at a neighborhood near I-10 and Valencia around 8:40pm Tuesday night.
25-year-old Augustina "Tina" Soto was killed while an unidentified woman received non-life threatening injuries.
Law enforcement is searching for 29-year-old Stephen Malone as a person of interest. He dated Tina and is the father of her three young girls.
Don Vallejo lives nearby and heard the commotion overnight. As the car ran into the railing near the wash, he went to help.
"I went to the passenger side of the vehicle and I looked in and I saw the female... she was just sitting there, so I thought she was alright," Vallejo said. "I looked at the front of the vehicle and saw two gunshots."
Malone already has a troubled past. According to court documents, Malone was charged in 2008 for a drive-by shooting where he targeted Tina. He was also charged for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon which ultimately resulted in several months behind bars.
If you have any information about the case or know anything about Malone, law enforcement is encouraging folks to call 911 or, to remain anonymous, call 88-CRIME.
