About Casa de la Luz Hospice

Nearly 20 years ago, Lynette Jaramillo, and Agnes C. Poore, both local Tucson women, embarked on a journey to provide the community with a level of care, support and education that far exceeded what was being offered to patients and families at end-of-life. Today, we are the leading provider of hospice care in Southern Arizona and have served over 20,000 patients and families.

At Casa de la Luz, our commitment to enhancing quality of life for staff, patients, and the community, influences everything we do. Our mission is to provide superior care to patients and their loved ones, so that they may complete their mission on this earth in comfort, dignity and harmony.

“Casa de la Luz” is Spanish for “house of light.” That’s what you need when facing a terminal illness- a house of light, to provide comfort, support, and experienced hospice care during your end-of-life journey.

Caring for You

The Casa de la Luz approach to hospice is guided by the expertise of our adept staff and volunteers. Specialized in the field of hospice and palliative medicine, our clinical team is devoted solely to the patients and families in our care. Together, we form a community of care, with patients and their loved ones at its center.

Our team includes:

  • Experienced Physicians
  • Skilled hospice nurses
  • Licensed nursing assistants
  • Masters level social workers
  • Chaplains and spiritual counselors
  • Certified music practitioners
  • Trained hospice volunteers

In-Home Hospice

The goal at Casa de la Luz Hospice is to enable those facing a terminal illness to remain in the comfort of their own homes. We provide care to individuals in their place of residence- private home, nursing home, or assisted living facility.

Because we have the flexibility of providing care in any setting, a plan of care is developed for each person, and adjustments are easily made as your health changes. In order to provide professional and enduring hospice care in the home setting, a primary caregiver must be available.

With various facilities across the community, our depth of service extends beyond in-home care. With two inpatient units and a residential hospice home, we are the best equipped to handle all stages of the end-of-life process.

Understanding that grief and loss can often overwhelm, we offer counseling services and bereavement groups led by trained professionals. Grief support groups and counseling are open to the public and free of charge. In addition to our groups, Casa de la Luz Hospice offers a non-denominational "Celebration of Life Memorial" four times a year to honor the lives of those who have been entrusted into our care.
